Bayer HealthCare announces the newest winner of the Bayer Dream Fund contest.
|
Jenna Scarsi has just won $100,000 to take her project “Lights, Camera, Cure” to movie theaters all over America. Jenna’s family movie event brings together people living with diabetes in a fun and relaxed setting. The event is driven by local diabetes youth advocates and include educational games to teach people about diabetes, as well as a fundraiser for diabetes research.
Each year since 2002, Bayer has selected one winner and provided them with up to $100,000 to pursue their dream of helping others with diabetes. Jenna Scarsi is the fourth winner of The Bayer Dream Fund. Previous winners include John Dennis, who participated in the historic Around Alone global race in his boat without companion or crew. Colleen McCarthy LaPierre created an adventure-SCUBA camp called “Dream Big” for teens with diabetes. Kassie Palmer authored and published a book to help parents with diabetes overcome the challenges of caring for their families. In 2005, Peter Hoogenboom completed a 10,000-mile bicycle tour across America, demonstrating that people with diabetes can do amazing things.
